Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

We landed at the Kuala Lumpur airport and we were reminded of why we like to fly, there is always a Starbucks at the airport. Of course, the menu is always a little different than in the States, but we managed to get our coffee fix before making the hour bus ride into town.

We walked around downtown and took in some of the sights including the famous Petronas Towers, the worlds tallest twin buildings. They stand in the middle of the financial center and are 88 floors high, with a glass skybridge connecting them on levels 42 and 43. They were an impressive sight to see. Nearby was also the KL tower, the second largest telecommunication building in the world. The skyline in KL is truly impressive and even more so at night when all the buildings are aglow.

Kuala Lumpur is well known for the numerous malls and cheap shoe shopping.  We went into the Times Square Mall, which was massive and even had a small amusement park in the middle of it. I think we wandered around the mall for an hour or so and didn't even get through half of a level. The shopping was good and the exchange rate makes prices favorable, but still no room in the suitcase!

We enjoyed our time in KL, but really it's just another big city. It's quite a bit like Singapore, only a little dirtier. We were beginning to wonder how many Little India and Chinatown's one can see!

So, now we are off to the east side of Malaysia to enjoy some sun and beach, island time, and diving...maybe even some surf!
